Pinsaro (ピンサロ) is short for “pink salon” – essentially Japan’s version of a blowjob bar.
These establishments serve up oral sex services (fellatio) in a bar-like setting.
They emerged in the 1960s as a legal loophole around Japan’s strict prostitution laws – since vaginal intercourse for pay is illegal, pink salons offer only oral pleasure, operating in a legal grey area… and a very popular one with the local salarymen.
In this guide, we take a look at some of the best Japanese blowjob bars, how they work, and what you can expect inside these infamous ‘pink salons’…
Pinsaro Culture in Japan
Pinsaros became wildly popular from the late Shōwa to early Heisei era (1970s–90s) as an affordable form of adult entertainment, and they are typically found in red light districts throughout Japan.
We’ve seen their numbers decline in recent years, for several reasons: police crackdowns, competition from out-call services and the shock to the system of the Covid pandemic.
These famed venues are known for low prices, quick satisfaction, and quirky uber-Japanese services like “flower petal rotations” (multiple girls swapping in during one almighty suckathon).
Many pinsaros go for playful themes (think schoolgirl outfits, cosplay events…), and some even maintain a Showa-era vibe with dim lighting and Showa pop or electronica music playing in the background.
Getting a Blowjob (As A Foreigner) in Japan
The laws in Japan around prostitution make getting full sex a bit of a minefield with the definitions remaining loosely interpreted as “coital penetration”. In order to avoid any ambiguity around the act, many sex workers (and their places of work) opt for the easy option – providing their customers with hand relief, anal or oral sex.
As a result, business at the blowjob bars of Japan is big – and legal.
However, the culture of the Japanese is such that even talking to foreigners in some establishments is not even entertained. Knowing which of these venues accept foreign visitors is therefore important, not only to ensure satisfaction… but also to avoid being ripped off or exploited.
Known as pinsaros or ‘Pink Salons’, you can find blowjob bars in the red light areas of any major Japanese city (see our guides to Tokyo, Osaka and Yokohama).
How Much Do Pink Salons Charge?
Each pinsaro varies but at the low end you can expect to pay around 3000 yen and up to 7000 yen in bigger or better venues. It very much depends on where you go… and if you are paying the cheeky foreigner tax.
What To Expect At A Blowjob Bar
Generally, you will be touted before you even reach the venue you are intending to visit or, in the case of foreigners, directed to a pinsaro that will accommodate you.
You pay in advance and are shown to a seated area (sometimes these are private but many are open to the general area) where you will be met by your host as soon as she is free.
You will usually be given a cursory hygiene rub down with a wet towel before you receive your blowjob and you may be asked to wear a condom.
The act can take up to 20 minutes depending on what you have paid for and you will usually be cleaned up and maybe served a drink before you leave.
In a typical pink salon visit, you pay upfront for a short session (often 20–30 minutes). A hostess will then join you and provide oral services for the duration you paid for.
Unlike full-service brothels or soaplands (which involve baths and full intercourse), pinsaro services stick to oral (sometimes with variations like a “69” or breast play if the girl allows). There are usually no showers – you’ll just get a warm wet towel to freshen up before and after.
Some shops operate a “hanabira kaiten” or petal rotation system, where multiple girls take turns with one customer in one session (e.g. two girls for 15 minutes each in a 30-min course).
Others let you stick with one girl of your choosing.
Tokyo: The Pinsaro Capital
It’s no surprise that Tokyo – Japan’s largest city – is the main hub for pink salons.
Tokyo likely hosts dozens of pinsaros spread across various districts in every corner of the city.
Historically, you could find them in nightlife areas like Kabukichō (Shinjuku), Ikebukuro, Ueno, and smaller hubs from Koenji to Hachioji. Many of these joints operate quietly behind unmarked doors to avoid unwanted attention.
But if you know where to look (or have spent a good deal of time on Reddit), Tokyo offers a mind-bending array of pinsaro experiences – from grungy dive BJ bars to luxurious themed salons that could only possibly exist in Japan.
Traditionally, most pink salons were off-limits to foreigners – reasons ranged from xenophobic stigma (e.g. fear of foreign diseases) to worries foreigners “won’t understand the Japanese system or rules”.
And yeah, based on some of the forum posts we’ve seen, they wouldn’t be wrong!
That said, money talks. Things have started to open up in recent years as tourism booms. In busy nightlife zones like Kabukichō or Roppongi, you’ve got touts calling out to obvious foreigners late at night, trying to usher you into their pinsaro for fun and games.
A (very) small number of Tokyo pink salons actively welcome international Johns – or at least have no issue if you can mutter a few words of Japanese. Below are some of Tokyo’s notable gaijin-friendly pinsaros in 2025:
Happy Hinomaru (Kabukichō, Shinjuku)
Perhaps Tokyo’s most famous foreigner-friendly blowjob bar, although its future is up in the air post-covid.
This bar is right in the heart of Kabukichō under a flashy neon yellow sign, with a tout on the street who eagerly corrals guys inside (foreigners included). Don’t expect privacy here – the interior is laid out like a small theater with an open lounge.
A handful of decidedly average-looking Japanese women (including some plus-size gals) take turns delivering 20-minute blowjobs for about ¥4,320 (tax included) per session. Standard service is condom-free and goes until you finish. It’s a no-frills salon with some decidedly mixed reviews… as per, for any foreigner-friendly venue.
The house is usually strict on time so if you haven’t cum in twenty minutes you will need to pay extra or leave unfulfilled. You will be cleaned up before you leave.
We’ve seen reports that the venue has closed up recently, with local business shifting over to BabyBoo, although this new location is said to be less open to foreigners. YMMV.
Jan Jan (Sugamo, Tokyo)
Jan Jan is a well-known old-school pink salon that has welcomed foreign men for over a decade.
Sugamo is off the typical tourist path, but Jan Jan stands out thanks to a friendly middle-aged tout who waves in customers near the station. Inside feels like a dusty lounge or tea house. There’s not much privacy (a familiar quirk of these places), but slightly partitioned booths.
Four or five ladies (mostly average in looks, some middle-aged) are usually on duty, each providing around 30 minutes of oral service. They’ll typically let you cum in their mouth (CIM) and a few even go for 69 position if they’re into it.
Latest prices are around ¥3,500 for 30 min in daytime, ¥4,000 at night for locals). Foreigners pay “roughly the same” (which to us sounds like “we’re only gently ripping you off” lol), making Jan Jan one of the better-value, gaijin-tolerant pinsaros in Tokyo.
Academy (Sugamo, Tokyo)
Located quite close to Jan Jan’s, Academy is a small suck shop where you can get a decent oral service and which accepts non-Japanese clients. And when we say small… we mean small. There are only two seats inside.
It usually has just one worker at a time, and here’s the kicker – she’s often a grandma well into her 60s or beyond. Yikes. Yes, Academy is essentially a geriatric pinsaro! Despite the advanced age of its staff, the elderly ladies are happy to service foreign customers as well… with the caveat that foreigners have to wear condoms.
A 30-minute blowjob is about ¥3,000.
Look × Look (Kanda, Tokyo)
A classic pinsaro tucked next to Kanda Station. The front door staff won’t aggressively solicit foreigners, but if you speak a bit of Japanese and understand the system, they’ll probably let you in.
We say probably because we’ve read some sob stories, too!
Look×Look’s setup is a dimly lit room lined with eight sofa seats facing each other. Two or three women (ranging from their 20s to 40s) rotate among the Johns, getting nude and blowing each guy one after the other in turn.
The standard course is ¥6,000 for ~30 minutes, which actually includes a two-girl rotation (each girl gives ~15 minutes of head, or until she “fills her mouth” so to speak).
This rotation style – once more common – is now actually quite rare for the foreigner-accessible shops (Look×Look became the last of its kind after another called Strawberry Club in Ōtsuka closed its doors to gaijin).
Emotion (Gotanda, Tokyo)
Located in the Gotanda area, Dio and Emotion are two separate pinsaros where you are serviced in one or the other depending on who you are and what you are paying for. Dio’s is the more common venue for a blowjob, particularly for foreigners.
If you don’t speak Japanese then you will have to pay for their standard gaijin service (or “course”).
You don’t generally get a choice of which women that will be and, if the place is busy or you are just unlucky, they could be quite plain or even unattractive and possibly fat as well.
Our advice would be not to judge a book by its cover as all these ladies have hidden talents and make it their business to know how to please a man with their mouths.
As with many pinsaros, the action is only screened off with a curtain so it is less than private but regular customers (including locals) are well practiced in the art of zoning in to their own action.
Foreigners are typically limited to a 40-minute course with two ladies in rotation. Prices start around ¥7,000 for 40 min during daytime (and rise in the evening) – and yes, that’s notably higher than what locals pay for the same service.
Generally, Tokyo offers the best odds for foreign punters in the pinsaro world.
But there are some notable exceptions…
Osaka – Kansai’s Pink Salon Scene
Osaka has its own active pink salon scene. You might spot pinsaro joints in entertainment districts like Namba and Umeda, but the real hotspot is a neighbourhood called Kyobashi.
Kyobashi (just a few train stops from central Osaka) is renowned among locals for its cluster of pink salons – in fact, multiple popular pinsaros are stacked in the same building complex there.
Osaka’s prices are fairly similar to Tokyo (in the ¥5,000–¥7,000 range).
Gakkozaka GKS Class 3-K (Kyobashi, Osaka)
This is a cheeky “after-school” themed pinsaro with a lineup of very young looking providers (18 – 19 year-old girls fresh out of high school). The girls don plaid skirts and doe-eyed expressions to fit the concept.
A standard course is ¥7,000 for 20 minutes of oral fun. Despite the barely-legal theme, this shop doesn’t seem to mind foreign punters with various positive reviews scattered around the web.
Kuroneko (Uwasa no Bunny) (Kyobashi, Osaka)
A fairly well-known Osaka pink salon offering a spectrum of ladies from late teens to late 30s.
The name “Kuroneko” means black cat, and “Uwasa no Bunny” hints at bunny-girl cosplay, so expect a bit of playful costume element. They have courses from 20 up to 60 minutes, but a quick 20-min session starts around ¥6,000. Foreigners are generally okay here; even if the staff’s English is limited.
Miracle (Kyobashi, Osaka)
True to its name, it might feel like a small miracle for a foreigner to be warmly welcomed… but yep, that’s exactly what this shop promises.
The staff here explicitly welcome international customers, especially if you can manage a little Japanese greeting or small talk. The lineup spans a wide age range (20s through 40s), but every lady is skilled and aims to please. Some might offer a bit extra like a titty job in addition to the oral. Around ¥5,500 for 30 minutes, so pretty cheap.

A couple of notes….
The prices above are base rates for standard courses (daytime), sourced in 2025 (but may have changed), and they may exclude taxes or late-night premiums.
Many pinsaros offer discounted “service time” rates during off-peak hours but the rates will generally climb once the evening action picks up.
great write up, wish the whole world was as open to blowjob bars as this country is
Any bars willing to open the backdoor to foreigners for around the same prices? Also, are there any bars that offer cosplay tag team lip service?
